Upcoming MMORPGs: nine titles with a sourced release plan
This page lists upcoming MMORPGs only when a named outlet has reported a date, a window or a stated lack of one. Every entry carries the date of its source, because release plans move.

How these upcoming MMORPGs were chosen
A title counts as one of the upcoming MMORPGs here if a release, an early access start or an official delay has been reported by the publisher or by gaming press, and if we could read that report. Rumor threads and store-page countdowns are left out. Each entry below names its source and the date of that source.
Release plans change often, so the text says what was reported, not what will happen. If a studio moves a date after 30 October 2026, the entry still describes accurately what the source said on its day.
The site follows 2D, Korean and free-to-play games, and this list does not force that lane. Two of the nine entries involve Kakao Games as publisher or announcing partner. None of the nine is a 2D game with a confirmed date. For the lane itself, the free MMORPG picks are the better start.
Two terms matter when you read the entries. Early access means a paid or limited test of an unfinished game that the studio calls a launch. A full release is the version the studio treats as finished. Several upcoming MMORPGs on this page are early access dates only.

The upcoming MMORPGs list
Ordered by how soon the reported date or window falls. Status as of 30 October 2026.

Qloud Games' Loftia was reported by MassivelyOP on 20 September 2026 to have a firm early access date of 3 November 2026, on Steam. PC Gamer carried the same date and describes it as a solarpunk MMO. It is an early access launch, so expect an unfinished game.

Image: XLGAMES, from the ArcheAge Chronicles Steam store page. Shown to identify the game; the image belongs to its owners. ArcheAge Chronicles
ArcheAge Chronicles is set to enter Steam early access on 3 November 2026, with a store price of $29.99. Gematsu reported the date in October 2026, and the Steam store page lists XLGAMES as both developer and publisher. Earlier, MeinMMO reported on 15 August 2026, citing Kakao Games' financial report, a fourth-quarter 2026 early access window, and MassivelyOP reported on 11 February 2026 that Kakao had delayed the game before. It is an early access launch, so expect an unfinished game and treat any later plan as a plan.
World of Warcraft: Forever
GoSuGamers reported after BlizzCon 2026 that Blizzard's World of Warcraft: Forever launches on 4 November. It returns to the game's first year of 2004 with retro graphics, and adds new zones, new dungeons, two new raids and a new race. MeinMMO's list of 19 October 2026 gave the same target. It sits beside the main game, so it is a new mode of an existing MMORPG.

Image: Kakao Games, from the Chrono Odyssey Steam store page. Shown to identify the game; the image belongs to its owners. Chrono Odyssey
MeinMMO reports that publisher Kakao Games has moved Chrono Odyssey out of 2026. Icy Veins reports a target of the second quarter of 2027, after an earlier first-quarter 2027 target. No exact day has been announced. The planned platforms are PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series.
Soulframe
No release date is announced. PCGamesN, updated 9 February 2026, expects 2027 at the earliest, because the game was still in its closed pre-alpha called Preludes. Only PC is confirmed in that source, and it does not say whether the game will be free to play.

Image: Triune Studios, from the Eternal Tombs Steam store page. Shown to identify the game; the image belongs to its owners. Eternal Tombs
MeinMMO, in an article dated 19 October 2026, gives Eternal Tombs an early 2027 target and describes a Buy2Play model: one purchase, optional subscriptions for extra character slots, later paid add-ons, and no in-game shop. MassivelyOP headlined on 12 October 2026 that it is a solo developer project projecting an early March 2027 release and a Steam demo. The MeinMMO page does not list platforms.
Horizon Steel Frontiers
Insider Gaming reported on 4 June 2026 that, according to NCSoft's investor relations presentation, the game will now release in the first half of 2027. The article says NCSoft is developing it for PC and mobile. It does not name a separate publisher or a price model.
ArcheAge S: Strait of Freedom
KitGuru reported on 4 August 2026 that XL Games and Kakao Games announced the game, targeting a 2027 release on PC. MassivelyOP's headline of 7 September 2026 narrows that to a second-quarter 2027 window on Steam. Neither source read gives a price model.
Guild Wars 3
GoSuGamers reported that the game was revealed at Summer Game Fest 2026 with a beta scheduled for fall 2027, on PlayStation 5 and PC as currently confirmed. ArenaNet is the developer. The page lists the full release date as to be announced and states no pricing.
Each source was read on or before 30 October 2026. Dates beyond that day are plans, not facts.

Reading release plans for upcoming MMORPGs
Kakao Games is the clearest case of why a date needs a source. MassivelyOP reported on 11 February 2026, after Kakao's fourth-quarter 2025 results, that ArcheAge Chronicles and Chrono Odyssey had both been delayed again. The same outlet reported on 11 August 2026, after the second-quarter results, that ArcheAge Chronicles will enter early access this year, and by late October the Steam store page and Gematsu carried a named day, 3 November, with XLGAMES listed as publisher. Quarterly earnings calls are where those shifts show up first.
A window such as the fourth quarter of 2026 covers three months, and a studio can keep it while moving the actual day. A named day such as 3 November 2026 is a firmer promise, but early access still means rough edges, wipes and changing prices.
If a title you care about is missing, the reason is usually that no outlet has printed a date for it. Check the publisher's own news page and the Steam store page before you plan around any date, including the ones on this list.
The newer 2027 entries show the same spread. NCSoft's June 2026 investor presentation moved Horizon Steel Frontiers into the first half of 2027, while Guild Wars 3 has a beta season and no release date. A beta season is a test period, not a launch.
Price models are the least reported part of a release plan. Of the nine entries, only Eternal Tombs has a stated model (Buy2Play, per MeinMMO), so check each store page for pricing before the date arrives.
What was left out
Riot Games' League of Legends MMO has no date and no showcase, so it has no entry. Corepunk's 1.0 launch was described by MassivelyOP in July 2026 as still slated for later this year, with no day given, so it is also out.
Aion 2 reached Western players in autumn 2026 and MapleStory Classic World had a 21 October 2026 launch date, so neither counts as an upcoming MMORPG any longer.
